GTIN-14 Generator
A GTIN-14 identifies a trade item at packaging level – a case, carton or pallet layer containing several consumer units. This generator builds it from the base GTIN-13, adds the packaging indicator and calculates the GS1 mod-10 check digit for you.

How a GTIN-14 is built
- Digit 1 is the indicator: 1–8 for packaging levels, 9 for variable-measure items, 0 for a single consumer unit.
- Digits 2–13 are the GTIN-13 without its own check digit (company prefix plus item reference).
- Digit 14 is the mod-10 check digit, recalculated over the first 13 digits.
- A GTIN-14 is usually printed as an ITF-14 barcode, or inside GS1-128 with application identifier (01).
Create a GTIN-14 in three steps
- Enter your 13-digit GTIN-13 and pick the packaging indicator (for example 1 for the inner case, 2 for the outer case).
- The check digit is calculated automatically – the result is your 14-digit GTIN-14.
- Download the barcode as PNG or SVG, or use bulk mode to turn a whole CSV/XLSX article list into print-ready stickers.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I invent my own GTIN-14?
- No. The company prefix inside the GTIN must be assigned to you by GS1. This tool only builds the correct structure and check digit from a GTIN you already own.
- What is the difference between GTIN-14 and EAN-14?
- They are the same number. EAN-14 is the older name; GS1 calls it GTIN-14 today.
- Is my article list uploaded anywhere?
- No. Parsing, check-digit calculation and barcode rendering all happen inside your browser. No file leaves your device.
